As this game has six different terrains to play on, there is a lot of variation in this game. Each terrain is unique. The sports
terrain is the easiest, because there are a lot of tarmac covered road there. The forest terrain is very difficult, because there is no road in places. In addition, some of the forest tracks are covered with snow and ice, something, which makes this track twice as difficult.
When the race begins, you will have to face five computer cars. The action is viewed from above, but not exactly from above your car. If you manage to come in third or better in the race, you will move on to the next track. The better your placing is, the more money you earn, much like any other game. This money you can use to improve your car and hopefully finish in the top of the pack again.
The typical upgrades include, engine, the transmission (gears), the tires and the overall look or "shell" of the car. On the last race it is possible to have a few special upgrades. Although the computer will also automatically upgrade the cars you race against as well. This game also allows for two player mode. If more than two people are willing and wanting to play there is a league mode in which up to six persons can play against one another.
ATR has nice graphics but can lead to wanting a small amount more. The landscapes appear to be correct and have good coloring. Also the cars appear in bright colors and look very real.
Sound is the largest downfall of the game with very poor effects. This again balanced by very good song choice of the different themes.
