Game Review (written by Kilall) Added on: 04/10/2007
Did you ever want to drive the many racing tracks of the world? Get paid to win? Or even, own your own Jaguar that you can update and drive as you please? Race your Jaguar at up to 200 mph through the racetracks of the world! For each race you win, you can use the money to do much needed repairs or updates to your pride and joy – a Jaguar XJ220.
It’s a challenging game, for those that have never driven before. You first begin in England, racing a Jaguar against 20 other people ranging from Porsche drivers to Corvettes. And it doesn’t matter, if you don’t come first – cash prizes are paid to the people that occupy the first 10 places – from $27000 to $2000 (best used for repairs on your vehicle, or to travel around the world to other races). Jaguar XJ200 is a view from behind racing game – so in many ways it takes away the experience of actually being behind-the-wheel, which personally I don’t like as much. There are 32 tracks in all to race, with varying road conditions weather conditions such as rain and fog in England and rocks and tumbleweed obstructing the track in Egypt. You race your Jaguar in a grand prix, with opponents running for Porsche, Ferrari and Corvette. Between races, you must mend the damage your car has sustained, which eats up your prize money (a little too quickly in my mind).
The graphics are good for its time. I still found it fun to play. I can imagine back when this game was first released it would have caused quite a stir – the game featured the fastest simulation car to date. Another good thing is that you can have a two player mode as well, and race against a friend.
