Game Review (written by David_m_cooke) Added on: 07/28/2007
KGB - A classic game from the Commadore Amiga days. You play a Russian KGB agent who has to solve a number of puzzles and missions to get to the bottom of what is happening in your life, your work and the country in general. The game has variety and depth closer to reality that other classic Amiga role playing games - like Monkey Island - have. If you pick up cigarettes and vodka, and feel like getting drunk and smoking all the cigs - do it! But mind the consequences, as you might crash out and find the days have flown by.
The game is not easy though, and as sad as I am to admit it, I required the walk through to succeed as a young man playing this game.
Cross examine strangers, family members and colleagues to obtain the information you require to piece together your existence. Disguise yourself, assume identities, purchase dodgy pirate videos of the Maltese Falcon - the list goes on! Avoid various pit falls that can lead to an untimely death, and enjoy possibly the most unusual piece of text you will ever see on a computer game, when you attack a mugger and are required to move his corpse in order not to arouse suspicion. Upon picking up the corpse, you will be informed that the male is "Dead. Permanently".

Never quite worked that one out, but it's kept me sufficiently puzzled to this very day.
Follow the twists and turns of the game until you get the chance to meet Mikhail Gorbachov. I suppose with alleged recent events with ex-KGB operatives here and now, that it can only intrigue people to see what the developers of this great game saw as happening inside the walls of the KGB in Moscow, and the frightening possibility that this game may only too closely follow real life.
If you enjoy your role playing games perplexing, sophisticated and frustrating - then you'll love this. Yes, graphics are two dimensional and animation is not good (people don’t move so much as evaporate and rematerialize), but this is so far beyond mere criticism and more enjoyment of a simpler time in gaming. I don't think many bought this game in the mid nineties when I first became familiarized with the game, and I hope people will download this hidden classic and enjoy.
