King's Quest III: To Heir is Human is one of my favorite classic adventure games. It was another great title in the King's Quest series which made Sierra one of the pioneers of the computer gaming industry. This game has everything that a good adventure game should have, combining a good plot and game play (for 1986 anyway).
You play through the game as Gwydion, King Graham's son, enslaved by an evil wizard high up in a tower. The wizard's mission in life is to make yours as miserable as possible, and even kills you if he finds any possible contraband in your possession.

You play through the game as Gwydion, King Graham's son, enslaved by an evil wizard high up in a tower. The wizard's mission in life is to make yours as miserable as possible, and even kills you if he finds any possible contraband in your possession. Never fear though, the wizard will definitely get his as your struggle to find everything you'll need to free yourself from his evil clutches.
As
you wander about the castle and countryside (when the wizard is out running errands anyway), you will find the magical spell components that you will require dispatching the wizard and successfully completing your adventure. Don't think though that just because you've freed yourself the journey ends.
After dealing with the evil wizard, you will travel via pirate ship, danger lurking everywhere, to get to across the vast ocean to the island on which your sister, Rosella, is being held captive by an fearsome dragon. Yes, you guessed it, you will have to face the dragon and free Rosella to win the game.
Never fear however, if you've properly prepared yourself and your spells before leaving the wizard's castle, you should have no trouble getting past the dragon and being reunited with your family.
King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human is an old school adventure game that gave way to the motto "Save Early and Save Often" that all adventure gamers know and love. Danger lurks at every turn; and almost everything you do can in fact get you killed if you're not careful and well prepared for the perils of life throughout the world that Ken and Roberta Williams (founders of Sierra Games and legends in the computer gaming industry) have created.
Danger, wizards, magic, spells, pirates, dragons, oceanic voyages, and so much more. It's really got everything you could ever want in an adventure game. Believe me, it you give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
