This game is probably the best of its genre. It is similar to Jewels or Bejeweled but in 3D. Those of you who liked Tetris, Jewels, or Bejeweled will be pleased with Klax. The colours are vibrant, the game controls are easy, but the best part is that you can move your cube faster if u already know where you will place it, just like with Tetris. Three tiles of the same colours together eliminates the cubes. It can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
For those of you who remember Tetris and it's sometimes annoying music (polka for exemple) Klax does not follow Tetris for that! It has a sinister beat to it that reminds you that you had better hurry because the tiles are building toward the top and the game is going to be over if you don't act fast.
This was probably the only game my mom and I played where she would beat me. Therefore I judge that this game would satisfy young and older ones altogether. I played this game on sega genesis and I can tell you that we spent months playing that game. It's quite addictive since the game gets harder, and faster and you always want to beat/compete with yourself. For myself, this game was more entertaining then Tetris (that we also had) because of it's 3D tiles. The music sounds were more realistics. For example, if you drag your tiles faster down the runway you actually here the thumping sounds. The best part might be the placement bar. Once your tile is down the platform
it falls on a placement bar. Which in itself allows you (although you have to be very quick since the other tile is already on the platform) to move it again. Kind of a last chance movement. This is the only game that allows that. Neither Tetris nor Jewels have that placement bar. Therefore that placement bar allows you to flip your tile exactly where you want. But watch out! If the tile falls and you dont catch it with your placement bar you lose a life ( and the sound is actually quite comical too!)
This placement bar makes kKax an entirely different game then Tetris, Jewel or Bejeweled. Just like them you have to place the tiles so that you have at least three tiles of the same colour in a row( horizontal, vertical, diagonal) BUT it is a bit harder since you first must catch the tile with the placement bar and then flip the tile where you want it. As the game gets faster you must have quick reflex in order to catch, flip, and recatch the next one and reflip it at the proper place. There are also different goals for each level, such as making X number of vertical matches and so on.
In summary, this game for my part, is better and a bit harder then Tetris and the other games, and is a lot of fun.
