Leisure Suit Larry 3 is a great game, a fantastic game in fact as long as you can ignore the graphics and archaic control scheme. Leisure Suit Larry 3 like previous games in the series places you in the shoes of Larry Laffer on your quest to get laid by some hot lady or ladies. The controls for the game are done with the keyboard and mouse as opposed to all of the sequels including the reinterpretation of the first game in the Leisure Suit Larry series which all use only the mouse, with the exception of the escape button for the menu.
Like the other games in the series, this is also a point and click adventure game.
If you are accustomed to the more simplified mouse only input from the sequels as I was upon first playing this then you may have some slight getting used to worry about but after a few minutes it should feel quite natural as long as you know how to type. Aside from the control methods used in this game you will start as comedian and programmer, basically Al Lowe's middle aged alter ego, Larry Laffer on an island of hot women.
After the cute Hawaiian chick from the last game decided that she didn't want anything to do with Larry he sets out for the ladies
looking for love but getting a whole lot of laughs instead. To my recollection of playing through this game several times back in the day I can tell you that you will definitely need the manual or an online version of the manual to get to the very end of your quest. You as the reader of this review must obtain such information because this game is well worth your time and effort. Some of the puzzles are tough. This is more than just a soft porn style of cheap thrill. It is going to take some efforts to get the ladies looking at Larry.
I, having played and completed this masterpiece of Sierra's gaming history several times, can assure you that this will be remembered as one of the most interesting games to ever come about and that is something that is hard to regret wasting your time on an old computer game. As previously mentioned the controls are abnormal compared to today’s and yesterdays adventure games but within several minutes if you are like me you will forget and just maybe like this control method better than the newer games.
This kind of control method gives you access to many more options than the sole use of the mouse could provide with ease. For instance, quite a few Easter eggs exist that can be accessed with typing vulgarities. In summary I give this wonderful gem of gaming history a 4.5/5.
