Rockstar Ate My Hamster is a strange game, but a great game nonetheless. The objective is to manage your band and get them to the ultimate fame and popularity, and of course make money.

If you like to personalise, like I do, then this game will appeal to you. You can name your band, choose its members (along with how many members, one is the lowest and four is the maximum), its name, name of the songs and much more. There are a lot of options, like doing a publicity stunt and getting more fame, alothough it usually involves one of your band member's dying in a bizarre accident.
Well, it works. This game is very fun, not to mention funny. Being able to personalise a lot of things really appealed to me, and it probably appeals to a lot of people.

Since your role is to be the manager of the band, you have to progress your band by telling them to practice or whatever. However, you'll have to send them gifts, or else they'll get angry and hate you forever! But of course, you'll also have to book venues. The bigger the venue, the more it costs, but the more money you could make. But, you'll only be able to buy out a big venue if you have enough fans, or else you'll go bankrupt and lose the game.

The

name of it I just don't get. I guess it's a reference to Ozzy Osbourne, but meh. It's sort of weird, and an upside of owning or playing this game is so you can say "I've played Rockstar Ate My Hamster", so everyone will awkwardly stare at you and you can have yourself a private chuckle because you know how cool the game is. But, it's just a name, and it doesn't really matter.

This game wasn't released in America, and I feel that they've missed out. It's a very fun 'manager simulation' game, something which I don't think has been done, like, ever. I could be wrong, but this is the only one I've actually come across. Anyway, if you haven't already played it, I highly recommend it, or even if you have played it, just download it so you can play it again and again until your face explodes.

Overall, it's a good game. I like it. Not the best, it has a few flaws, but there's no denying it's... good. Okay then.

THE FINAL SCORE:
8.5 out of 10
A.K.A. "Pretty Great"

Game Review 2 (written by Catmantra) Added on: 10/15/2006
This game is a piece of retro class! It’s the only one of its genre that was ever any good or any fun. In it you battle to get a record deal and then climb the charts, aiming for that elusive number one spot! I never quite got there when I originally played it on my Atari ST, but I kept going back and trying again!
This game is fun, simple, and not too in depth. I plan to go back and play it again right now, as I never quite made it to No.1 in the real charts either! What else can I tell you about this piece of gaming history? Well, it’s a shame it didn’t come out on the PC, as I guess I am now going to have to also get an emulator to run it! Like I said I previously had the Atari ST version, but I will now try the Amiga version as that would have had better sound etc.
Another thing I remember is that you could pick up to four members from your band from artists such as Cliff Richard!
Then you go through rehearsals, write songs, and start performing and chasing that elusive record deal. You get offered some dodgy ones, but if you hold out, the big guns will come in for you. And then it’s the adventure into the charts!
In the meantime, I will happily have a nostalgia-fest playing the original. Class! 10/10

This was my favorite game of all time. Amazing, and addictive. About 20 years ago I played this game hours on end and for me it is the original classic computer game.

This game is awesome. It nearly ruined my degree. Worth it though. I used to play so much when I was a kid.
