I can’t believe no one has written a review on un squadron till now.
This is your simple side scrolling, in a plane, shoot ‘em up, anything that moves you kill, simple.
The game consists of 3 main characters, if my memory serves me well, they are American guy, English guy and a guy with a silly beard, I think he was from Denmark.
Anyway each have their own fighter plane that has different characteristics, for example the guy from Denmark has a tank buster a-10 that lets rip with forward and ground bullets coming out at once, the f-15 has just single shots coming out of the front of the fighter.
With all the planes the fire power can be increased during game play by collecting power ups and money, once you have obtained enough money and have also completed a level, you will be taken to the shop where you can upgrade your weaponry, ranging from heat seeking missiles to a lighting strike attack and also a huge bomb blast, the more you progress the harder your fighter becomes but also the harder the levels become.
The graphics are great, full of colour and vibrant and you will be lost for hours playing this, please be aware that you will end up throwing or smashing something as you keep getting killed in the exacted spot over and over again.
This
game was great in its day and I still play it. This game will keep you coming back and back to try and beat the end level baddies that has been killing you for nearly 2 weeks. The sound is also great, big explosion noises and a very cheesy sound track that actually fits well with the game.
You don't get shoved from one level to another with this either, you actually are able to choose the missions you would like to go on, but prepare yourself before each mission.
My advice is use the a-10 tank buster as this kills targets on the ground and also this guy’s health goes up quicker than any of the other pilots. Which is something I forgot to mention, you don't blow up the moment you hit something, you have a shield which gets damage and then makes you vulnerable to incoming targets.
Great game play, great amount of weapons, great sound just an all around entertaining game. 9/ 10
