My first copy of this game came on a demo floppy disk from "Amiga World" magazine. I played it on all four of my Amiga models at one time or another and it is one of my all time favorites. It is a variation on the small sprite character games like "lemmings" or the more recent games in the "warcraft" series... The game features small teams of mouthy militant earthworms who use a variety of bombs, guns, martial arts and mining tools to blast away at the terrain and each other on a wide and colorful variety of single screen backdrops.

The game features small teams of mouthy militant earthworms who use a variety of bombs, guns, martial arts and mining tools to blast away at the terrain and each other on a wide and colorful variety of single screen backdrops. The gameplay is in rounds, each player getting a turn to try to wrought havoc on the opposing teams. To play
a round, you choose a weapon, then a target and sometimes an angle (depending on the weapon) then fire. The gameplay is such that human players can all play off of one controller passing it from player to player. You may have as many as four competing teams (or maybe six, my memory is a little hazy...). The goal is to have the last worm standing... The computer teams play with a range of skill from dumb as dirt to bloody brilliant. You usually must use several rounds of drilling and bombing to open a path to get the opposing teams. Worms may crawl and jump. Aiming is crucial with mortars, missiles, hand grenades and sheep bombs...Friendly fire sometimes happens and the worm on the wrong end will surely let you know his displeasure. Sometimes the hand grenades and other explosives bounce back and backfire. Special weapons like sheep bombs, air strikes, and guided missiles flame throwers and bomb replenishments are dropped from the air in crates on occasion and you must get a worm to the crate to open it. When a worm dies he leaves a tombstone that can block the movement of other worms. A worm may commit suicide, in which case he blows up injuring bystanders. Each worm has a life-scale and different weapons do different amounts of damage.
This game requires some degree of strategy. The graphics are well drawn and well animated for the time in which the game was written. The worms have a wide and witty repertoire of verbal threats, jeers, and complaints to sound off. They have suitably wormy sounding voices and a bunch of different mannerisms to provide variety. I found that even though the gameplay was simple, it offered many of amusement...
