Game Review (written by Zerox13) Added on: 01/22/2007
As a child of about 5 I remember playing Yo Joe and loving every part of it (mainly his great hair). I remember having to go to all the wide range of levels from pyramids to the streets. And some of the best 2D graphics of the time with vibrant colours. So when I found out I could download it off of this website I was thrilled. Once again I could be reunited with Joe and his quest for his friend.
With of a variety of levels and catchy background music I thought this was one of the greatest games I have ever seen.
There were also a variety of weapons from ninja stars to crowbars which made for great fun in smashing the bad guys heads in. However it is not a violent game and is much too cartoonish and so it appealed to all the family with childish violence action and comedy.
A key part in my mind is when you could make Joe have a shower in the old castle and just other small yet amusing things. I feel that the game was somewhat missed due to the rise of pc and more powerful platformers but it will always stay with me.
It was not all good though. No save points and I felt the ending was a bit poor and the game must have been easy if I could

complete it as a five year old. And as I rummage through google I see short yet fulfilling descriptions. “Nice platformer” and” easy but damn good”.
I have forever wondered why they called it Yo Joe as the toy G.I Joe uses this as his catchphrase making most search engines unreliable. Anyway for those who have not played the game this is what it’s about. Graffiti artists Joe and Nat are always on the run, trying to escape New York's police. When they reach a mysterious castle, there's no way of knowing they're in deep trouble already.
The game itself is a platform game, featuring two characters. The protagonists can jump, crawl, kick, beat, slide, and swim. They're even able to hold their breath when under water. If you're playing the game solely, "Joe" is your character of choice. A friend can take on Nat's part. The purpose of "Yo! Joe!" is to get rid of "Professor X", who is the bad guy. The players can attack opponents using several weapons, including Molotov’s, chainsaws and nun chucks.
And so in conclusion a great game with not as many fans as it deserves
