Game Review (written by R32gts) Added on: 12/17/2006
Zak Mc Kracken was one of the first "point and click" adventure games. It was made by Lucas arts in the 80's and was a hugely under-rated title. The storyline was one of great fiction with trademark gags and visual jokes aplenty, personally I believe that this game could be remade today and still be an underground sensation!
The interface is pretty clunky to use with lots of movement needed to perform tasks, but this does not detract from the game itself, with a challenging series of puzzles and many dead ends, it never fails to deliver a satisfying gaming experience.

One of the reasons it is such a great game is that it does not have the failsafe mechanism present in so many

games these days, you can die, you can kill other characters and you will then be unable to complete the game. This is something that is not really possible with modern gaming (thankfully the killings aren't too easy and a reload always cures the problem provided you didn't save after death of one of the characters!) as no-one wants to complete days of gameplay only to discover that you've made mistakes.
Overall Zak McKracken is a challenging and amusing title that gamers young and old will enjoy!

A blast from the past! An ingenious game that kept me busy during the later part of the 80s!
