During game play you will be playing a single ranger who is going around destroying the outposts that will allow you to capture the enemy officers. You will have three bags that you will be able to place all your equipment into. Some of the items that you could have inside of these bags can be your ammo, grenades,

rocket launchers, or just your standardized equipment, solely depends on the players preferences. After you’ve been playing the game a little more you will be able to determine which equipment would be better to use for combat then when you first start off. This option does allow you to personalize the game to fit your own aspect that you want the game to take part in.
Once you have selected all your equipment of choice you will then be dropped off at your mission by an airplane. This is when you will decide where you would like to drop your three bags of equipment. It is better to scatter them throughout the field so if you start running low you will soon be finding another one of your bags. You are only able to carry a certain amount of equipment at a time, so if you place them all in one spot you will be back tracking.
The game field has been designed with a vertically scrolling screen which is where you will travel through. Throughout your travels you will discover minefields, bunkers, and many different soldiers. You will be able to take out the bunkers with the use of a rocket launcher as well as plastic explosives. It is better to sneak around the game instead of blowing everything up. There is a time limit during each level, so you will have to get to the checkpoints before your time runs out or you will be left in the battle field without a way out.
The overall graphical design of the game has been done with a two dimensional vertical scrolling screen. The animation of your ranger and all the graphical aspects of movement have been done quite smoothly. This allows the overall graphical appeal to be quite superb for the gamer.
Airborne Ranger is an action packed game that will definitely keep you on your toes throughout all the game play. The game can be very customizable to fit the player’s needs and expectations. The game is definitely a classic game that is very exciting and overall a phenomenally designed game with many great aspects that keep the player interested in the game play.

Awesome game, got it when it first came out and played it 24/7. Was way ahead of it's time, it set the platform for future games, eg. Doom.

I just love this game. I bought it in 1986 when it came out for my C64, then for the Amiga.

This is my all time favorite. I think it was way ahead of its time when it came out. I love how you can lay prone and crawl or run, throw grenades.

This game was tight! This was one of my favorite C64 games ever. There was great variation in the missions. Some took place in the tropical zone, some in the temperate zone, and others in the Arctic. I liked every mission that took place in the Arctic. Also, some missions were shoot 'em up style while others required a more stealth approach in order to accomplish the mission.
