Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/08/2007
Barbarian is a very gruesome action packed game that you will be doing a lot of killing throughout. The games scenario has been taken from the old myths that you would hear as a child. You will be taking on the evil sorcerer attempting to defeat him so the Jewelled City doesn’t loose their Princess Whittaker.
The game consists of two different parts of game play. There is a practice game play mode that you or another player can learn all the aspects of the game ranging from your fighting moves to what your strengths and weaknesses are.

The game consists of two different parts of game play. There is a practice game play mode that you or another player can learn all the aspects of the game ranging from your fighting moves to what your strengths and weaknesses are. The second choice of game play is the death match. You will take part in numerous battles against other barbarian like characters until you reach the final battle

where you will take on the evil sorcerer. There have been sixteen different movements included into the game. Eight of these movements will be for your body movement and the other eight are your attack movements. Each of the movements will need to be learned if you are expecting to get far in the game.
The game has eight different levels that you will have to get through. Each level will become far more difficult then the last. Each opponent that you will take on will become faster in movement and definitely stronger. This does get the game to become quite difficult by the final battle where you will compete the strongest of them all, the evil sorcerer. The sorcerer doesn’t use a sword for combat; he will actually use magic, which definitely takes this game to the next level.
The game has been designed with a lot of graphical detail to every aspect of the game. You will see lots of bloody moments throughout the entire game. Many of the things you will see can be gut turning disgusting. One of the best moments is seeing your opponents head fly across the screen. In a way this can be hysterical, but in other moments it can be gross with the blood and guts that will definitely go along with it. Every character has been animated very well. Movements are smooth and definitely worth your while to take part in. The sound effects as well are phenomenal. You will hear everything from your swords connecting to the crunching of your opponent’s limbs.
Barbarian is a game that definitely opened new doors to the gaming world. With this game being as graphical as it is, it was a definite must for many youth when it first came out. The games has a lot of challenging matches you will take part in that will keep you playing this game. Once you have determined the controls of the game the movements that you will do will become very simple. Overall, Barbarian is a superb gruesome game that will turn those weak stomachs many of times throughout game play. If you love games that have been filled with action packed combat as well as flying body limbs, Barbarian is the game for you. You’ll soon be addicted to this over the top game and love beating your opponents to nothingness.
