Below the Root is a classic adventure game that I played years ago when I was young. Then and even now it is an entrancing adventure that takes you through the tree tops and underground searching for an important person who has gone missing. You can start out as 5 different characters, each one with different strengths and weaknesses. Pomma is probably one of the easiest because she starts out with the most spirit power, the hardest is the woman (I can’t remember her name) she starts with no spirit power.

You must travel this little universe and speak with people to get clues to your next destination and to ultimately find the missing person.
I recently played this game again and went through it in no time. The storyline turned out a lot shorter than I remember it to be. Though the world is huge. To explore it all and find all the homes, people and animals would probably take quite a long time.
It is a challenging game. Some of the clues aren't very specific but it is fun to try to figure it out and get to your goal. You must keep an eye on your status to make sure you spirit, food and rest levels are up. You

can sleep and eat to get your rest and food levels up or drink an elixir potion which looks like an oblong purple circle. You can talk to animals or influential people to get your spirit level up. If you don’t keep these levels up then you pass out and get sent back to you starting house and ALL your levels go back up but you do lose a day and you have to go all the way back to wherever you were at before you passed out. If you spend too many days and you haven’t found the person yet then game will be over because some other person beat you to it.
So spend your days wisely, but don’t worry too much because they give you plenty. Also watch out for water as you can't swim and walls because if you run into a wall too many times and fall down you will tear your shupa, which is the jacket that helps you glide.
Overall an excellent game to play and if you played it a long time ago it is very nostalgic. This game is based on a trilogy of books. I still have yet to ready the books, though I hear they are worth reading and rare to find. If you like this game I would recommend Alice in Wonderland, made by the same company is a very similar game and equally as fun and adventurous.

Fun game. Me and a friend played it for months exploring every bit of the world and figuring out the puzzles. The included game map was pretty cool, in fact I still have it framed on my wall. The books are pretty good too, it took me a long time to find them, but they're well worth it.
