Game Review (written by Jamiehoy) Added on: 08/02/2007
David's Midnight Magic is an early pinball simulation game written by David Snider. David's Midnight Magic was first released in 1982 for the Apple II computer platform. In later years the game was released for other platforms such as the Atari 8-bit and the Commodore 64.
The game contained bright colors to lighten it up, as the Black Knight pinball table had a dark medieval theme. Even though David's Midnight Magic seems very pixilated and square-like it was a great pinball simulation for the time, seeing as its time was over 25+ years ago.
In the game you are able to nudge the table to the left or right enabling you to move the ball fraction. But through this nudging of the table, there can be dire consequence if you nudge it too much, this is known as TILT. When the game is in TILT mode, all your controls are disabled.
The layout of the game consists of 2 sections, the upper and lowers parts. The upper part contains a round (circular) shape spring / bumper that you can hit and a few loops to gain a few points here and there. The lower part contains the 2 regular triangle shaped bumpers on either side of the bottom flippers and a death drop on the

outer edge of each side, stealing a ball (life) away from you every time you land in there. There are 2 pairs of flippers that you can control, the 2 usual flippers at the bottom of the pinball table and 2 random flippers in the upper section. When the game is opened, it spreads out to full screen mode.
Despite that there are newer and better pinball simulation games, featuring more advanced physics, variety of options and greater graphics if you are a pinball junky I would recommend this game. Throughout the years there have been many pinball simulation games created and dumped in David's Midnight Magic's place. But those games had nothing on David's Midnight Magic as this game was the one that started it all.

I give this game a 10 / 10 for its time (back in 1982) and 7/ 10 for present time (2007).
