Dig Dug is an arcade adventure game where you will be attempting to destroy all of the underground monsters. To kill these monsters you will have to inflate them till they pop or dropping rocks on top of them. There will be to types of monsters that you will be encountering. The first are called Pookas that are round red monsters that are wearing yellow goggles. They are meant to resemble tomatoes in a way. The second monster is the Fygars, which are green dragons that have the ability to breathe fire.
As the player you will be taking the role of the character Dig Dug who has been dressed in white and blue. You have the ability to dig tunnels. The way that you are killed is by being caught by the monsters, getting caught on fire by the Fygars, or having the rocks fall on top of you. When it comes to you trying to defeat the monsters it will take you four pumps to inflate the monsters. If you don’t inflate the monsters entirely and leave them for a period of time the monsters will deflate and then recover after a short period of time. Only inflating them half way can stun the enemy for enough time making
it that you can put them in a path of falling rocks if you have them there. When an enemy is deflating you will also have the chance to get past them, but this can be risky. You must keep an eye out though because monsters can travel through the tunnels under the dirt and turn into just eyes, making it that they can sneak up behind you. To complete the levels you must defeat all the monsters, which will then take you to the next level.
The graphical design of the game is pretty basic to the arcade design. It is filled with bright colors and textures, but over all the game is pretty simple in the artistic appeal. The game is as well not too difficult. There are ways where you can get the game to be more difficult on your own. One way would be to get rid of all the dirt in the level so the monsters are able to move around a lot faster. The game is simple enough for new gamers, and exciting enough for old gamers.
