Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is the game based on the second movie of the classic trilogy. You start out on the plains of Hoth (snowy planet, depicted in the movie) and you are Luke. You start off with only a blaster as your weapon. You work your way through various caves, surface plains, and underground rivers. On your way, you will encounter various enemies, from mini-wampas, to snow troopers and probe droids.
You are free to explore everything you want to, as much as you can explore in a side-scrolling game anyway.
Exploring may also be beneficial to do. You find various force powers, power-ups, and even your light saber.
As you progress through, you have to overcome various terrain obstacles also, like places where you die, if you touch something and thick ice walls. At the end, you fight a big probe droid and end up at the Rebel base. Then the next level starts. In it, you find yourself in a snow speeder, trying to take down the AT-AT walkers (big things the Imperials come in the movie). You can either shoot it till it dies (which is time-consuming and, frankly, boring) or you can shoot it with a harpoon, which destroys it as quick as you hit the fire button, if you hit it
of course.
Unfortunately, you have limited harpoons, like any good game would have. You can also be shot down and have o travel on foot, facing not only AT-ATs, but snow troopers too. You can take down the AT-ATs with ease, doing the same to them as Luke does in the movie, without limitations, too. Eventually, you make it through to the end of the map and win, requiring that you killed all the walkers, of course. The next level is evacuating from the base, which is similar to the first level, but more difficult.
I enjoyed playing this game very much. It is fairly hard, but has many fun moments. I found this game to be an enjoyable experience to go along with the movies.
