I remember Encounter on my old C64. Took and age to download especially on tape was so happy to get it onto a disk. I spent many days playing against the diamonds, hiding behind the black towers and using them to fire my colts and rebounding them to hit the enemy diamonds. Remember to use the towers and your radar to locate the enemy the playing field is infinite and one of the best moves is to reverse fast firing in quick succession rebounding of the towers until you hit them.

Especially when they get harder and faster. Just hope you don’t get pinned into a pillar otherwise instant death.
Got very difficult as you progress through the game. I remember in particular
the diamonds getting harder firing strings of bullets in streams of three at a high. I also liked the timer system as you struggle to hit the enemy a tone rings out getting faster and faster. Once the timer runs out it gets suicidal, hard to hit them and they come hurtling towards you so you either hit them fast or die.
The music helped a lot to increase the atmosphere the beeps increase in tone and speed as you progress through the enemy.
A game that I would rate very high up, it would definitely hold its own up against elite, Monty on the run and chucky egg. Nine out of ten. Especially on playability front.
If you ever download and try this you would not regret it. Despite the graphics are poor and basic. But this adds to the charm and atmosphere. It will keep you hooked for hours. Maybe this game would be good on a palm pilot or mobile phone.
