This game is sort of like Broderbund's Choplifter, but even better! Instead of having a game space limited to horizontal scrolling, you got to navigate vertically to descend through several levels leading to the finale. Scattered about, there are landing pads for depositing rescued men and which also act as the new spawning spot after you lose a life. Enemy helicopters chase after you, timed laser beams guard some passageways and if you touch the walls, you’ll die.
Great gameplay, great exercise for your trigger thumb, as there are several walls made up of tiny blocks that you get to blast through.

Great gameplay, great exercise for your trigger thumb, as there are several walls made up of tiny blocks that you get to blast through. Even though there are only a handful of levels to descend through before you get to the end, I never
really got bored with this one. This was a game that you could beat, enjoying every minute up until the end. And then you could do it over again (and over and over), before having to shut down for something like dinner or sleep.
This game will always have a special place in my heart. Fort Apocalypse is all about simple fun: a few puzzles scattered about, learning a few tricks, and lots of shooting'. So, try it. You’ll like it.
