Green Beret, which is also known as Russian Attack, is an action platform game that is based around the Russian Attack during the Cold War. You will take the part of a US special operations soldier who is infiltrating the enemy military base. You will be trying to save a few POW’s from executing by the enemies firing squadrons.
Throughout the game you will take part in four different stages. These stages consist of Marshalling Area, Harbor, Air Base, and lastly the Siberian Camp.

During the game you will start off with a knife to use as your weapon. Throughout the game depending on which you kill you will be able to get a three shot flamethrower during the first stage, a three
shot RPG during the second stage, and three packs of hand grenades during the third stage, and during the fourth stage you will get one of each of the weapons from the previous stages. When you have completed a stage you will get to take part in an extra challenge. Once you have completed every stage and rescued all the POW’s, they will salute you, and then you will be taken back to stage one. Then you have the ability to run to the right where you will then see new territories. If you don’t do anything for ten minutes an air bomber will kill your soldier.
The games overall design has been done with a platform side-scrolling feature. There is too much detail done to the game since it is done in the arcade format. The game runs very smoothly with the animations and the overall graphical appeal is great for the years of design.
Green Beret is not too difficult of a game to complete. There are not too many tasks that you will be taking part in other than saving the POW’s. The game will become far more difficult with every stage you complete, but this is necessary to make a game interesting. With the game being set around the Cold War, there is a dramatic feel to the overall game play. The game is very realistic in some aspects, which make the plot phenomenal.
Green Beret is a great action arcade game that all ages could attempt. There are not too many stages for you to go through, but there is enough to keep this game interesting. With the extra territories added after you’ve completed the game you will get to experience more to the games overall feel. Green Beret is a phenomenal game that anyone should play, especially if they love action arcade games based around historic events.
