This was one of the games I remember playing on our C64 when I was a kid. We didn’t have many games to choose from so it was one of the first computer games I ever played but it soon became one of my favorite games and I still remember everything about it to this day. It doesn’t seem like much now compared to the shooting games that you can now get but when I was little I just had to keep on playing until I'd shot all the bad guys.
Every time I got killed I had to restart the game and go further and further.
The setting is like an old western. The objective, for you as the good sheriff of the town, is to shoot the outlaws that come to rob the bank or take women from the saloon before they get away or shoot you. If you succeed, an undertaker will come and collect the dead bodies. If you fail and you get shot, the outlaws will take it all. It starts easily enough with everyone on foot but as the levels go up, the difficulty does also and the outlaws appear on horseback, they have dynamite and also hide in the buildings, appearing at

the windows. After each level there is a bonus level. You'll need to be quick here as it is a stand off between you and an outlaw. If you shoot the outlaw first, the game will continue. If he gets you first, its game over. Remember it only takes one shot to kill or be killed so you have to be quick and careful. There are only 5 levels and should you complete all 5, the game will return to level 1. All the levels take place in the same place with the same background scenery, except for level 5 which takes place in a field with a cave that the outlaws come out from.
Moving around is easy. You can move up, down, left, right and shooting can be done vertically, horizontally or diagonally. If you think you've heard the background music before, it is the theme music from the film of the same name.
The graphics and gameplay are, as you'd expect both very simple but even so it is still a very good game that becomes very addictive and brings back a lot of memories of games of old. I haven’t really played any other C64 shoot 'em up games so I have nothing to compare it with, but if you have some spare time on your hands and want to take a journey back in time, this game is worth a go, even if it is just to see the funny little undertaker dragging away bodies while the shooting continues!!
