From the creators of the classic Test Drive, the team at Accolade present to you: Mini Putt - The Ultimate Challenge. Mini Putt is similar to a golf simulation game, but in a simplified manner. It's all about putting. No need to choose which club, because the only club you has, and all you need to use is your putter.
The fun and joy of playing mini golf at your local fair is brought into your home on the Commodore 64.
Mini Putt is a game for all ages, whether you have a friendly game with a sibling, or if you want to get down and dirty to see who the best Mini Putter is, Mini Putt is a fun way of doing it.
Once competitor's names have been entered, you are given the choice of four courses to choose from: Deluxe, Classic, Traditional, and the very demanding Challenge course. Accolade has made the most of the very restricted 1 button joystick for the c64. Ball control is very simple, but can be very challenging, especially when there is some pressure when playing against an opponent.
The game puts you at a bird's eye view of a hole. Each hole is spread across at least
two screens, with a mini radar type view to give you an indication of what may lay ahead. The Deluxe course is a rather visually pleasing course to play on, with nice scenery to accompany the fairly playable course.
Classic is a very interesting course, in which most holes have something strange and spectacular to either disrupt your ball getting to the hole, or actually helping it into the hole. A couple of examples are an elephant's Trunk getting in the way, as well as his tail on the other side. Windmills and propellers of an Airplane play a part in making your game difficult. My personal favorite is the Canon that you must get the ball into, which actually fires your ball into the hole! Fantastic!
Traditional is very much what it is; a standard mini putt course. It's the Challenge course that is truly demanding. With very narrow sections to place your ball through, and the frustrating arrow fields, which force your ball into the direction of the arrows, the Challenge course will keep you entertained for hours.
Mini Putt is one game that can be enjoyed by everyone, and at the end of the day, your only challenging yourself. Mini Put is one of the best games on the c64, with great graphics, including animations of the actual golfer jumping for joy, or burying his head in the ground. Mini Putt is sure to entertain.
