In this game, you take control of a character who is a photographer. The aim of the game is to walk around the three floors of a hotel, opening hotel room doors to find several items to make up a camera. There is one door that is not free to open and that is the one with the subject of the photograph that you need to take in order to complete your mission. In order to open this door, you need to find the key behind one of the other doors as well as finding the different parts of your camera.
Once all items are collected, you can head to the locked door, open it and the photo will be taken signifying the end of the level.
It all sounds so simple, but no mission in this Mr Angry game is so simple, except maybe the very first one. During the missions you will have one or numerous amounts of characters out to get you and throw you out of the hotel. These characters include the hotel manager, a waiter and various other hotel staff and other characters. If you are caught before you've completed your mission, you will lose a life and have to start the mission all over again.
There is one final character you need to know
about and that is Mr Angry, the subject of the title of the game. Mr Angry is a man who doesn't like to be disturbed. He's come to the hotel to have some rest and recuperation, but there's this pesky photographer who seems to keep disturbing him! As you're trying each door to find your objects, there is one door that presents to you Mr Angry who, along with everyone else, is out to get you.
To avoid these people, you have to strategically maneuver up/down the ladders and along the floors, being careful not to be surrounded! The only thing your character can do, that Mr Angry and co cannot do is jump, so there is a tiny platform on the top level where you can gain some rest.
This game is not for the faint hearted. While it seems straight forward, as the levels progress, you might find yourself becoming stressed during your attempts to avoid capture. Such a simple game with a simple theme, but it can keep you entertained for hours on end as you will constantly go back to it as you try to do just one more level!
Like every other part of the game, with its simple idea, the graphics too are very basic and simple, yet it's a game that is extremely fun to play. Part of its charm is that it's a kind of puzzle as you have to figure out routes to take on the spot, in an attempt to avoid capture.
I first played this game on the C64 and, next to Frogs in Space it's the one that gave me the most pleasure. I would often become tense and stressed as I was weaving up and down the game play area. I recently downloaded this game to play again, and believe me when I say that it's equally as fun and stressful as the day when I first played it on the C64.
This is without doubt a classic game not to be missed!
