Game Review (written by Vuanaunt) Added on: 01/12/2007
Pacman is a classic game. You go around as a yellow sphere with a mouth (pacman) and eat pellets spread all around the 2D maze. Also in every stage there are four ghosts released into the maze, if you touch one of them you lose one of your lives. In every stage there are four "power pellets", they are bigger than the normal pellets that you eat to clear the stage. A power pellet allows to eat the ghosts, also the more ghosts you eat with a single power pellet the more score you earn.

In every stage there are four "power pellets", they are bigger than the normal pellets that you eat to clear the stage. A power pellet allows to eat the ghosts, also the more ghosts you eat with a single power pellet the more score you earn. After a ghost has been eaten they will rush back to their central box and respawn.
Every now and then a fruit will appear,

which if you eat it you will gain a lot of points (depending on the stage you are on). On most of the stages there are four exits, each leading to a corresponding exit, the ghosts travel slower than you in these so you can use them to escape. Another strategy to escape the ghosts is to turn corners, because the ghosts cannot instantly do so like you can.
The normal pellets each give you 10 points, so they are not a major way to obtain a high score. I believe that each fruit gives 1000 points times the number of the stage you are currently on. Also a new fruit appears in each level, until you reach somewhere around level 10.
The ghosts are each given a name, and a distinguishing color (red, orange, blue, and pink) but other than that they are very indistinguishable.
The stages are all similar, with four power pellets, one in each corner, the ghost box in the middle, and your starting location right under the ghost box. You do not change levels until you beat it three times.
Also after every so many thousands of points you obtain an extra life allowing you to play longer and maybe get into the high score list.
There are many spoofs of Pacman like Mac man for the Macintosh operating system. The Creators of Pacman later released several of their own Pacman like games such as Ms. Pacman that is a minor variation of the original Pacman, with a few changes, like the main character now has a wart and a bow changing it to Ms. Pacman, and there are now cut scenes between some stages. Pacman later was made into some other forms of games (there was a pacman Tetris spoof), a cartoon show, a cereal, and even an hour-long T.V. movie.

Who could forget this game? IMHO this is the classic of all classics, besides tetris.
