Park Patrol used to be one of my all time favorite Commodore 64 games.
Some might think it was cheesy, but I used to think it was great. Of course, here is a knack to it - you have to get used to the way your character jumped in and out of the boat. And if you cruise along at "high speeds" when you're in the water and run into one of the paving stones you will jump out of your boat.

And if you cruise along at "high speeds" when you're in the water and run into one of the paving stones you will jump out of your boat. If you're quick enough you can land on the paving stone and deftly jump back into your boat, but this takes a little bit of practice and, if you don't get it right, then you drown.
Of course, the levels get progressively harder

(with the music getting a little funkier each level) and you end up having to run away from loads of weird alien-like creatures on land that will kill you, snakes in the water and quick sands too. There are ants that carry food around too, but these are more for if you want more points rather than getting through the game itself. You also have to deal with more and more swimmers getting into trouble and calling for help. If you don't save them then you lose a life and it can get pretty tedious having to turn around all the time to save them so if you're close to picking up all the litter, then the best advice is to ignore their cries and quickly get the last of the rubbish before they die and therefore you die. And to add to your worries, you also have to keep an eye on your energy expenditure and run back to your little energy hut when you're running low, otherwise, you die.
The graphics are simple, but the idea is so cute and innocent that you've got to love it! I mean, who doesn't want to pick up rubbish and make the place a nicer place to live?!!!

This was one of my favourites, can't wait to return to the good old days of c64-ing. My mum is also a great fan, she was well addicted
