Pool of Radiance is a tactical role playing game that takes place in the Forgotten Realms in and around the Moonsea region and the City of Phlan. The whole object that the game is trying to display is by having the player get rid of all the evil inhabitants from the cities which will allow the City of Phlan to get back their buildings and their overall population.

You will start off the game in the New Phlan which is currently civilized by the counsel. At this part of the game you will be attempting to buy equipment from the shops, get some sleep
throughout the motels, talk to people throughout the pubs getting to hear all the rumours, and then get a contract going with the clerk of the city council. This will allow you to get various commissions to assist in the purchase of new items. When you begin getting commission you will be able to hire an adventurer to assist you on your travels.
Once you get out of the city you will enter into the slums which have become overrun by monsters that look like goblins and orcs whom you will be required to destroy. With every monster that you destroy you will gain experience that makes further combat much simpler. The further along in the slums that you get the harder the monsters will become.
As you further along in the game you will encounter many different monsters, one of these monsters that you will encounter when you venture out of the city will be a silver dragon. Each monster does become far more difficult to defeat the further along you get, which can get quite exciting.
By the time you reach near the end of the game you will find out that one of the people in the council is traitor and has sent someone out to hunt you down. You will then begin a new adventure and attempt finding the dragon boss, which is a very difficult battle, but very satisfying once you’ve completed it.
The overall objective of the entire game is to free Phlan from all the monsters and the final boss. You will take on many different commissions that can become very difficult, but capable of completing. Pool of Radiance has been designed with your generalized arcade graphical details. It has been done in a first person perspective with a lot of written details throughout the game.
Pool of Radiance is definitely a phenomenally designed role playing game that does require a lot of patience. You will want to take on a lot of battles to increase your overall ranking, making combats far simpler. If you’ve found yourself enjoying role playing games in the past and are looking for a game that is somewhat similar to Dungeons and Dragons, then Pool of Radiance would be a great selection. There is so much to this game and the overall plot, that you will soon be entranced with the superb game play.
