I remember this game being one of the first ones I had ever played. Sadly, I was not born when the Commodore 64 was in its prime, but when I was little, my much older brother had this old consol thing and this lovable game. It was so simple, yet so involving. Like today's "Sims", you basically watched over this bum with no money on the street, making sure his food levels didn't go down. It was fun picking up dollars, having to find a place to stay at night, and knowing when places opened to get a job or to eat.

I never really got into all of the making money after college in this game, but I really enjoyed making him get
a haircut, going to his job or school, etc.
The song in the background is what I remember the most; that annoying, lovable song that got stuck in your head and played on a loop. No other game, except for a few exceptions like the town music in King's Quest 5, has ever reached the annoying point that "Rags to Riches" did, where you find yourself humming it in your sleep.
I was so sad when my brother moved out, taking along his Commodore 64 and this wonderful game. I craved it, oddly enough, so I was delighted that this game was on this site. I have loaded it up and it looks to be just as I remember it. I always thought that there was a bug in this game, since the cop always seemed to come out of nowhere once you got off the subway, and then once you got out of jail, the robber always had to be a second away. I've never had this confirmed or denied, but I'd like to blame my failure on something. A wonderful game, with good music, simple controls, and okay graphics for the time.
