Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/04/2007
Test Drive has become a well-known racing simulation that has a variety of races and arcade like games. You will select your vehicle out of five different sports vehicles for your driving preferences. You will then be traveling through a mountain terrain attempting to do over the top speeds while avoiding the cops. You have been set up with radar that will detect the police so you are able to avoid them or challenge them to a chase. All the vehicles have been set up with manual shift.

When you first start off the game it is best to practice your shifting so when you actually get into the game you aren’t finding yourself blowing up your engine.
The game has been done with a lot of realism

towards the real world. You will be encountering traffic, which makes driving difficult because you will be having to maneuver around the traffic and try your hardest not to have any run ins while still maintaining your top speed. There have been radar traps set up through various points of the game allowing the cops to have numerous chances to actually catch you. If you are looking to have some fun try getting as many police officers you can to chase you and see if you are able to out run them. It is risky, but also fun to do if you like excitement.
The graphical design of the game has been done with a far more advanced arcade design in a first person perspective. Your view will be of the inside of your vehicle from the drivers view point and then the scenery that you are driving towards. The graphics that have been used in the game have been done with a lot of detail for the years of release. When you have reached the checkpoints you will have a phenomenal view of your vehicle from the side that definitely has a large amount of detail done to your surroundings and the car itself.
There is only one part of the game that isn’t done overly well. Most of the scenario looks quite similar to itself. If the game had included the use of trees or houses in the scenery then the game may of gone further in the gaming world. The controls for the game have also been done a little too complicated for a racing simulation. This can be quite frustrating to the players, but you will get the hang of it eventually.
Test Drive has been a phenomenal addition to the world of games. The game has taken more risks than most games in the past. Test Drive is definitely a very addicting game that you will still find around today for play. If in the past you have found yourself enjoying racing simulations then Test Drive may be one of those games you find yourself enjoying a lot. There have been so many great features about this game that does make it different then many other racing simulations already in the gaming world. Test Drive is a great game that any age could enjoy, especially you.

This mix of racing simulation and arcade game consists of driving a choice of 5 sports cars on a mountain strip at the fastest speed possible without getting caught by the cops. To avoid them, use your radar detector - or just try to outrun them if they spot you. Manual stickshift only, so make sure you don't redline or you'll blow your engine.
