Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 01/01/2008
The last game of the ever so popular trilogy would be Zork III: The Dungeon Master, which is another interactive fiction game that is a part of the Zork trilogy. The game will begin where Zork II left off at the bottom of the endless stairs.
Compared to the previous two instalments into this trilogy, Zork III is not your usual treasure hunt. You will still have the adventurous feel of the game, but now you will be demonstrating how worthy you are to take on the role of Dungeon Master.

Compared to the previous two instalments into this trilogy, Zork III is not your usual treasure hunt. You will still have the adventurous feel of the game, but now you will be demonstrating how worthy you are to take on the role of Dungeon Master. You will be attempting to get past the Guardians of Zork, taking on many of the roles of the Dungeon Master, and then take on a very tedious final
Zork 3
test. You will have to get the amulet which is at the bottom of a lake, a cloak and a hood which can be found when you select to look underneath the hood that is on the vanquished opponent placed in the Land of Shadow, the staff which you will get from a man on the Cliff when you assist him in retrieving a chest of valuable items, a very strange key which you can discover in the key room, the royal ring, and a black book. You will have to travel through many different areas to discover all these items before you will get the chance to be the Dungeon Master.
During the game you will have to discover the key before a horrendous event occurs. When this event occurs several of the other items will be able to be accessed which make the game a little more complicated when you first start off your adventures looking for all the necessary items.
Once you have discovered all the items, you will have to give an elderly gentleman way bread to get into the Engravings room which will lead you to the final hallway of the game. This is when your sword will come into great need to block the beam that will come from the Beam Room. Then you will be taking on the Guardians of Zork, which can be done by going invisible or using a mirror box. Both are just as useful as the other to get past these men. Once you have gotten past all the Guardians of Zork you will enter into the Dungeon Master’s room if you have all the necessary items. You will then be put to the final test of the game that must be completed. Your key will then be used to unlock a door that will reveal all the Treasury of Zork. Now you have completed the entire trilogy.
Overall, the entire Trilogy of Zork has a very in depth plot behind every single game. With Zork III being a new change to the trilogy you get that final needed adventure to put together the entire Zork story, which is phenomenal. If you have played the previous two Zork games that are a part of this trilogy then taking on Zork III is a must.
