Catch the Sperm 3 Unlimited is the final instalment in quite a group of Catch the Sperm games. This particular edition was created and released by Black Pencil shortly after the turn of the century.
The premise of this, as well as all of the other Catch the Sperm titles, is to educate people about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health created this game as part of its campaign against STDs, especially the dangers of HIV. It was created especially as freeware for everyone to download. The SFOPH was looking for something that would catch people’s eyes and make them want to learn more about this serious and important subject.
While the reasoning behind the game is unique and interesting, the actual game play itself is really quite straightforward and common, just utilizing a rather odd theme. The games are all basically side scrolling shooters. The gamer uses a condom gun to neutralize the sperm as they travel into the vagina. The gun can also be used to kill various infections that are released with the sperm. Points are gained according to what the condom gun catches. Renegade sperm are worth one hundred points, and various viruses (denoted by different colours) are worth anywhere from one hundred and twenty to five hundred points. There are also bubbles that can be captured for points. The user had the option of uploading his high scores onto a website to show off his condom slinging prowess.
In Catch the Sperm 3 Unlimited, the premise of the game is very similar to the original. It features several single scene scenarios that tend to use a lot of humour to spice up the already spicy game play. Most of the scenarios feature the sperm in little outfits that reflect the name of the scenario. Euro 2004, for example, puts the little guys in football uniforms, whereas all of the sperm in Rio Carnival are in Mardi Gras style costumes. There is a Christmas theme, and although there is something somewhat disconcerting about seeing sperm in Santa Claus suits, it is still kind of funny. The Summer theme disguises the sperm as submarines and puts them in bikinis. Of course, the vaginal backgrounds change with each theme. Euro 2004 has them swimming up a football field, for example.
In short, Catch the Sperm 3 Unlimited is an interesting form of edutainment. It features a good, useful theme in the modern world, and also offers fun and humorous game play. It is recommended for download.
