Game Review (written by Iraki) Added on: 02/07/2008 This football management game follows the standard platform you’d expect from this genre and I have little criticism of the actual game play, but the major downfall is the transfer list is now so wildly outdated that many, especially would be younger players, will never have heard of some of the footballers available. Those of you wanting a retro ride into the premiership when Leeds were still in the top flight rather than languishing in the third tier of English football playing the likes of Bradford, the MK Dons and Sheff Wed will rejoice.
The positives that exist, other than more reasonable transfer fees than nowadays, is that as an early version of this popular sim it is easy to understand and navigate. The graphics are simple but clean and the transfer market basic to manipulate. The tactics are basic but offer you an interesting set of options. Where the game does fall down is if you are a lover of the lower leagues you’ll notice inaccuracies in its information, player’s bio missing etc. If like me you might flirt with a slight fancy for the unfancied clubs like Crystal Palace you might end up disappointed.
As with all EA sports games the obligatory intro which seems to go on and on sets the tone for the game. The game play itself takes an age to start but once you begin at least it affords you the opportunity to choose your level of involvement. Personally I avoided watching the full game only responding when the score changed and seeing the odd set of highlights. The game will also allow you to upgrade your stadium and seating levels which will eventually afford you a greater strength in the transfer market and develop the whole football club. All transfers are done using an email system, which is simple to use.
This game challenged Championship manager when it came out, and was enjoyable some might argue it was the best of it’s day but now struggles to compete with new sims, like tight shorts and mullets it’s had it’s time, and I suggest a transfer to something more contemporary. For those of you looking for a blast from the past this game delivers everything you expect but game play has evolved so much in the last eight years it really only represents a nostalgia trip.Comments

(02/12/2008) Football manager, this game have been in my life from the beging, Back in the day i used to spend hours, playing the original championship manager Italia {1993}. Since then i havent looked but, iching for the next release. It would completely take control your like, but what alife it would be playing the role of a high profile manager and to see if you would be a success, or if you were to be another victim from the boardroom axe.So then came a long football manager 2000, omg. The game rocked, taking fooball management to the next level, and for it all to be in your bedroom. Firstly this game has all you need to keep you happy for years, well atleast till the next installment comes along, and goning by past history its only going to get better and better.Weather you are the type who wantsto buy the high profile players or the type who likes to unearth a hidden gem, this game has it. The main fault that i can find with the game is that not enough good players from Scotland.
