Game Review (written by Shuji98) Added on: 05/16/2008 Sailor Wars is a classic style H-like game. If you are interested in Mahjong, but don't know how to play, this game will get you learning in no time. The rewards are exciting enough to keep you playing, and plus they are your favorite Sailor Scout characters. The type of Mahjong is based on the Japanese style. You want to collect the right tiles. Once you win, you can deplete your opponent's money and eventually her clothes!
The game is fairly difficult at first, especially when you don't know how to play Mah Jong, but once you get the hang of it, the game becomes a bit repetitive and easy. The graphics are fairly enticing for a game of its time. There is something about the oldschool graphics that gets me going, but it was a bit of a struggle towards the end. The difficulty doesn't really increase as much as say the randomness of the tiles become more fixed.
As exciting as the Sailor Scouts are, the game does not have much replay value. Once you have finished the game, there is not a lot of incentive to play again. The results are aways the same, and there isn't much variation in the Mah Jong. The audio isn't much to right home about either. In fact, I played the game without sound for most of it. Overall this game is guaranteed to be fun and challenging, but it is rather short-lived. There are not a lot of opponents, but even if there were I probably wouldn't play to the end.
What would make the game better is if there were more variations depending on what kind of combos you got or which tiles you used. As far as I know, there were no secret features either.
Mah Jong is addictive as it is, but with nice graphics it can be ever more addictive. I enjoyed playing this game, but there is no story that will may be want to play it again. It is definitely better than those pachinko games and it brings back a lot of memories. If you are looking for a quick fix, and you love Sailor Scouts, then this game will suit you fine, but if you want a more intellectually stimulating or deep game then you are better off going with something with more story.
I would rate this game at about 6 out of 10. It beats clicking one button, and the Mah Jong is fun... but only for a while.
