Game Review 1 (written by Jcbdapi) Added on: 01/22/2009 The first thing that most new players should know about V.G. Max, at least by my standards, the keyboard settings are not your standard layout. I don't know the first players control buttons , but I do know you can choose with the number pad up (8) and down (2) to scroll through the options and select them with the normal up button. Once you get past that part of learning the game, it is all about figuring out differant combos and special moves. In fact, in many ways the game's fighting style, as well as its moves and power bar build up style, remind me of Marvel V.S. Capcom . The drawings are pretty good yet I couldn't tell if I was supposed to be choosing an option after you win and it's showing different scenes or if it didn't matter what you pushed and the screens just kept on along in a story-type theme. The entire game is in a foreign language...Korean or Japanese...and while it does not detract from the game play, it did make these menu screens a bit confusing.
The level of difficulty doesn't jump greatly from opponent to opponent as you progress through the game so I was able to keep winning with some ease. The most annoying feature of this game would have to be the keyboard configuration and the inabillity to check / change the layout. I have only played with one of the available charecters, but from that one I can see that the combo abilities seem pretty good and the game play is not choppy or delayed. I only figured out how to do one of the " ULTRA " moves and one super move which resembeled Ryu's Fireball move on Street Fighter's series, but have managed to complete atleast 4 different combo styles so I have enjoyed the game so far. The sound is pretty good, as well, for its time and its playthrough was also smooth and clear with little to no skipping or delays. It was not particularly my style of music, but I found it to be catchy none-the-less. So overall my ratings were mixed taking in the different factors in the game as a total. Overall Game 8, Gameplay Style 5, Video Graphics and Game Sound 9, Story and Pictures (Can't rate story because of foreign language) and Ease of Control right off the bat 5, but it will move up to about an 8 once you get the hang of it. I hope this helps some people who were as stuck as I was when first played . As I said if not for the language I might have understood more to give it a higher rating, but would recommend ipeople give it a try none-the-less.Game Review 2 (written by Masamunezero) Added on: 08/19/2006 This game kicks ass and is a game for any one who like both fighting games and adult games. The Characters are gorgeously drawn and the CGs are just as good. The only thing that is disappointing is the number of characters that you can play as. The CGs are shown once you beat your opponent the number of times required. Any one who plays this game might disagree but of all the V. G. games I believe that V.G. Max is the best game in the series. In the game my favorite character is the lovely Tomoe. The difficulty of this game can some times be aggravating but it’s still a kick ass game. If I was to rate this game on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it an eight-point-five. The combo system in this game would get a six-point-nine. The graphics a nine-point-two. The sounds a seven-point-three. There are only 10 characters including: Yuka, Manami, Satomi, Reimi, Jun, and Kaori.Comments
