All right boys and girls! You better be ready! Turn on your TV sets! Grab your capes, throw on your best tights and wrap some underwear on top because here comes “Adventures of Fatman: The Toxic Revenge”!
This little gem is chalk full of action and adventure as you follow our hero, Fatman, into the dark city of Shadowlawn. A toxic madman is loose in the city and you must help Fatman to pick up the clues and solve the crime.
The game, which is an obvious knock off of Batman, (If you didn’t get it, you’re beyond help and reasoning) contains numerous jokes that spoof off of many pop culture references; even outside of the Batman medium.

Fatman is a gross, lazy, disgusting
slob of a man but he’s our hero and we have to deal with it.
Our villain is some geeky kid that just happened to get into an accident that resulted in him becoming a toxic waste covered zombie. But as if that wasn’t bad enough he has the ability to easily make other zombies with even the mildest touch. He goes by Toxicman and he’s Fatman’s latest evil menace.
The game features a wide variety of cleaver puzzles that are sure to titillate the mind and spawn a few chuckles more often than not.
The atmosphere of the game closely resembles Lucasarts classics back when Lucasarts was cool. It has a very “Saturday Morning” cartoon feel to it that may even drum up some nostalgia. The game, to my surprise, has speech that is of relatively high quality in both output and talent. The guy that plays as Fatman is absolutely perfect for the part and will constantly have you in stitches. As a bonus feature, you can press f12 and a creator’s commentary will play in each scene; much like the director’s commentary feature on most DVDs nowadays.
As an independent development (That’s right! You heard me!) I can say that it can compete against any and all commercial adventures and maintain an uncompromising edge. Hell, I’ve seen some commercial adventure games that were simply crap. But THIS will have you at the edge of your seat as you struggle to solve every puzzle and squeeze out every joke.
The music is also something to be commended. The tunes, which contain some hints of Day of the Tentacle, are absolutely fantastic. Each well-mastered, well-composed piece fits perfectly into the story, sets, and given scenes.
Have fun playing this beauty, you’re sure to enjoy it!
