Blue Force is a point-and-click adventure game by Tsunami Media in which you play as a rookie cop, Jake Ryan. As a child he witnessed the brutal murder of his father, who was also a police officer, and his mother by an unknown assailant. The case was never solved. Over a decade later, Jake joins the force. On his first day on the job, he rescues a woman from a gunman, and suddenly, with the help of his father’s old friend Lyle Jamison, finds himself on a path to track down and stop a notorious group of weapons dealers, dealers who may be connected to his father’s death.
There are several things you have to do to last in this game: One: Catch the arms dealers and bring you father’s murderer to justice, two: stay alive because a dead cop is no good to anyone, and Three: do not do anything stupid or else you may lose your badge. In terms of realism, I would rate this game as a four out of five. Your gun is inspected to make sure that it was cleaned properly; you must cover up your trail to keep the dealers from knowing that you are on theirs, and it is always a good idea to call for backup before doing anything else. Always use caution and remember to have your gun out if
you know that you are going to be dealing with an armed prep. Also know that you must read a criminal their rights before hauling them in, and after you book them you must fill out paperwork. This is a great adventure game and is not nearly as difficult as the Police Quest series by Sierra Entertainment, but there are some parts where a little guessing is required.
Of course, it would not be very entertaining if everything came too easily. There is some open-ended play, as the player may choose to go to several places at any time, but the story only progresses when certain things are done at certain places. Did the Police Quest games kept you entertained for hours on end? If so, this game will do the same if not more. All in all this is a wonderful game and a true classic adventure. It was one of my all-time favorites when it came out and still is to this day.
Blue Force is a must-have for all adventure gamers, and even if you are not into adventure games, you should give it a shot and you just might enjoy it.
