Dark Seed is an adventure game released in 1992 by Cyberdreams. It was released for Macintosh, Amiga, DOS, Sega Saturn and Playstation. The game experienced a good level of success when it was released.
The game is pretty well known for its stunning graphics. The game presents two worlds created by H.R. Giger. The game has pretty impressive graphics for a game that was released in the early 90s. It’s because it was one of the few adventure games that were created with high resolution.
The game has a light world and dark world. The sounds are interesting as the graphics.
You will control Mike Dawson, an advertising executive who now owns an old mansion in Woodland Hills. The character is actually based on the game creator and his desire to buy a nice home where he can write. On his first day at the mansion, he falls asleep and has a nightmare. The nightmare involves aliens planting a dark seed in his brain. When you wake up you have a really bad headache and now you’re not sure whether you really just had a nightmare of if it was a real experience you just had the night before. As you go around the quiet little town, you
discover things that give you an idea that maybe things are not what they seem in the town. You have three days to solve the mystery.
You need to explore the mansion and complete missions in specific times. This factor makes the game very difficult and even frustrating at times. The shops for example always close at 6.00 PM. You also can not be late for appointments as you can lose your contacts.
The controls are easy to learn because they are pretty standard for an adventure game. You just need to use your mouse or you can also your keyboard or a joystick. The controls may be easy but it doesn’t mean that the game is a work in the park. The game is fun but very challenging.
Dark Seed II, the sequel to the game was released three years later in 1995. It is likely you would want to play that game because you would surely enjoy this one. The game Dark Seed is perfect for people who like dark adventure games. The game is definitely unique and entertaining.
