Dreamweb is an adventure set in the not so distant future, and your main character, has been having awful nightmares which become more and more intense, and through them he learns that he must defeat certain evil entities in the world, otherwise the very fabric of reality, the Dreamweb, will be destroyed. With the scene set, you set off on your adventure to seek out and kill these evil entities. Graphically wise, I was not too sure in the beginning when I saw the top down perspective used in the game, and many people will find this awkward; however, the more you play you get used to it and you will find it does serve its purpose well in displaying the action.
The game is not the most graphically astounding of games, yet again the graphics are decent and convey the action well. One complaint I had about this game is that you never know what the other characters look like; you never get to see their faces and in a way this may serve to convey the main characters detachment from his surroundings and the people he knows, but it also results in you feeling that the characters are not lifelike or real people altogether, and removes a bit from the reality of the game.
Difficulty wise the game is on the above average level; the puzzles do require you to do some thinking, and some will have even seasoned players scratching their heads,
but fortunately their solutions are mostly logical and very rarely do you get a puzzle that has a weird or crazy solution (like discworld and day of the tentacle games). There is the usual problem of pixel hunting with some puzzles, and with the actual playing area being on the small side, this does not do you any favors, but fortunately this is not too much.
Before playing Dreamweb, just looking at the manual, and the accompanying "diary" contained in the game package gives you the feeling that this game is adult oriented, and make no mistake, this game, although not the gruesomest of games, has plenty of explicit scenes and graphic violence in it, but never to the extent that it becomes too much or does not serve a purpose.
With an interesting story and simple gameplay, I would recommend dreamweb to anyone looking for an adult oriented adventure game that wants to try something a little bit different.
