Flight of the Amazon Queen is a fun game, though not incredibly original and probably less challenging than other games. Think of it as a slick homage to your favorite adventure games. In a style very similar to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Flight of the Amazon Queen follows adventurer Joe King (in a brown leather jacket no less) through a many different situations and through interactions with a variety of characters (including German scientists - beginning to see the Indiana Jones parallels?).

Here's a short rundown of what happens in this game - our hero Joe has been hired to fly a prissy movie star to a photo shoot in South America. Sounds easy, right? Well, on the way, his plane
crashes in the middle of the jungle. In the jungle, Joe encounters a number of odd people, and comes across one of the strangest "evil plots" to have ever been presented in a point-and-click game. Prepare to laugh, despite the incredible cheesiness of it all!
This is a great game for fans of the golden age of LucasArts adventures who aren't in the mood to pay for a new copy of Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, or Sam and Max. Flight of the Amazon Queen has very similar gameplay and puzzle styles, and also features the same type of clever humor. As in other adventure games of the sort, there is an inventory and menu of actions that you can use on your surroundings. Also, you can't die in Flight of the Amazon Queen, which is fun, right? What it lacks in originality, it makes up for in spirit. Don't get me wrong - a couple of the puzzles are VERY imaginative (though not hard at all). The storyline is cute and funny, and the characters enjoyable.
The strongest points of Flight of the Amazon Queen are the sound and graphics. The free version of this game includes FULL VOICE ACTING(!!!) and other sound. I loved the voices in the game, as they really added to the overall quality. For point-and-click freeware, the graphics are very nice... the scenery in each landscape is very detailed and colorful, the characters themselves are nice to look at, and the cinematic scenes are well animated. You won't find yourself pixel hunting in order to locate poorly drawn objects (I didn't anyway).
I would anticipate that the average gamer would be able to finish this game in a few hours of gameplay. Overall, I would rate this game at least a 6 out of 10. It won't "wow" you, but you will definitely have a good time playing it.
