The game "Garfield the Attack of the Mutant Lasagna" is a great medium sized adventure game. It was fan made, but they really captured Garfield at his best. Garfield does some really "Garfield" type things. In little ways here and there, there are little reminders of the books, for example, I was trying to use the blanket at one point and he said something along the lines of "I don't need to be the Blanket Avenger right now". I had actually forgotten about his blanket avenging days.
I loved Garfield as a child, I read the books all the time and I love the game. It is very typical of a Garfield story, with different areas, and fun things to do. You get to go to Garfield's house, Jon's mom's and her barn, a forest, I won't tell you the rest, it's just a really nice variety. They paid attention to detail in ways that some games don't.
There are parts that are very difficult to get through, I got stuck for the first time right near the beginning, and the answer was right in front of my face! So, though it is that cat we all love so much, he's got to think to get through this game, it's not
as easy as you'd expect.
There's a pipe maze/puzzle part that is aggravating to get through, but not in an adventure game way, it's more of a puzzle/arcade style challenge. You have to be very fast and think quickly - plan on re-trying that one over and over again, but the rest is just plain good old adventure game style.
For the actual gameplay, you can't cycle through actions with your mouse like on some games, so you're constantly going back and forth with your mouse but there are keys you can use as shortcuts ( A= action, L= look at, p= pick up, etc). The only other problem I found with this game is that the menu pops up at the bottom of the screen when you pass your mouse there, that makes it quite irritating when you're trying to leave an area in that direction. In fact, there are parts where you almost miss an area because of it (mostly at the start, before you get used to it).
Overall I would rate this game an 8 out of 10, losing two only because of the few flaws that I've mentioned.
I'm glad I downloaded it, it was worth it for sure and I would recommend it highly!
