Infamous criminal Jack T. Ladd stages a daring robbery on a mountain-side road with his hostage... a cow. Jack is robbing the milk truck. A giant walkie-talkie shaped ship appears above. A masked intergalactic police officer arrests Jack.
Interesting intro for this sequel to Divide-By-Zero's unique adventure game, published by Psygnosis "Inocent Until Caught". After the intro the copper takes Jack aboard the ship named "Relentless", and removes the mask. It is a fiery red-headed woman, Ysanne Andropath.
You have the choice of who to play, Jack or Ysanne.
Whichever you choose presents a completely different series of events that play out the interplanetary adventure.
The Graphics in Innocent Until Caught 2 are quite nice for a relatively unknown company as Divide-By-Zero. The sprites are all unique, though in some scenes such as the casino/hotel some characters are duplicated. The cut-scenes appear to be 3D which is very well done. Diverse and interesting landscapes and buildings present a pleasant scope of pixels that please the eyes.
Ysanne navigates The Relentless via a control panel, and gets tips from her computer Booba. Jack can't use the control panel as a hotspot but can communicate with the computer, which can be quite insulting at times, good for a laugh.
The inventory items which are sometimes
very hard to spot in the backgrounds are well done and easily distinguished once in your inventory. Not all items are used but there is no backlash for picking up something you don't need. Items can be combined to make more complex items; this is done by clicking one inventory item onto another.
The first time I played this game which was around the time of its release the sound didn't work at all for me but that didn't put me off too much. I've played it on my XP system with Dos-Box and the sound is mediocre, there is no voice and the music doesn’t add much to the game.
The puzzles in this game can be really quite difficult at times and seem somewhat illogical. The opening puzzle for Jack (I won't give it away) is smart and funny though.
All-in-all you might need to use a hint guide for this adventure.
This game as a whole is fun to play, challenging, and funny. I suggest that you try it, now that it is free to download from this site.
