Heart of china, although is much like the rest of the mouse point and click interactive games, I believe especially for its time, the graphics were wonderfully done. Dynamix, as one of my favorite game publishers has always done incredible work, this however exceeded all of my expectations.
The game plays with the start as the main character Jake "Lucky" Masters who is landed in China to find the beautiful nurse Kate Lomax. As the story progresses, it moves you through to Chengdu to Deng's fortress to save Kate.
From there, you move west to Nepal and eventually to Europe, if you do it right.
The game is gratefully forgiving. In several skill related taskings you are allowed to repeat the process as necessary, though if you are not so coordinated or as keepboard savvy, the game will eventually allow you to proceed in the story line. This is a definite plus in game play which allows playability at all levels.
This game is part of the trilogy, though not necessary to know anything about in any of it. The characters are rich and unique, the plot line is superbly engaging. It has been nearly ten years since I’ve actually played this game, and I continue to enjoy every chance I get. It also has an
extreme level of replayability. Instead of the linear evolution of play in most RPGs, it has multiple levels and layers of playability that changes with the decisions player makes.
From the beautiful graphics to the wonderful music score, with rich scenery and character depths, and a wide range of different kinds of obstacles to over come, this game is superb.
