Hugo 3: jungle of doom
This game takes me back to my childhood I don’t recall when it was released but it was one of my first computer games.
I would recommend this game and all others in the Hugo's house of horrors line they are well thought out the graphics are poor but you can’t judge the past by today’s standards. The game play is decent and mildly challenging it is a mostly text interface some things are hard to recognize because of the bad graphics.
It uses a pc speaker that sounds about like a cross between atari and a nes and is relatively fun but sometimes frustrating because you can’t find the exact command to do a certain action. There may be conflictions with some operating systems, this game only uses the keyboard.
The reason I like this game is that it has a charm I’ve never encountered another game like this before or after I played it. This is a good game for kids because it teaches mental skills such as problem solving and if I recall reasoning as well but one you get into the game and actually get in to it things start to unfold.
Here’s the story: your girlfriend Penelope has been bitten

by a rare jungle spider after your plane crashed because of a freak magnetic storm that made the compass go wild. And you crash landed in the Amazon jungle. The story unfolds as you progress, it gets easier as you go along.
The learning curve on this is about 5-10 minutes and that’s just to get used to the controls. There are various items for you to collect along the way such as: candle sticks, bells, scrolls, cages, mice, blow darts and darts, water flask, needles, and those are the ones I can remember. Yeah I know some of these thing sound useless but every thing plays together in the end. Remember save often and you will go far. And here are my numbers on the game:
graphics:1
sound:3
playability:5
controls:5
overall fun:6

I never got to finish this game but it was great then and none compare to it now. I can’t wait to play all of them again to pick up where I left off some years ago. I found this game was difficult
