Game Review (written by Meanoldgeezer) Added on: 08/23/2006
This game is incredibly fun. It is a classic but with new and improved graphics. It brought back memories from the first time I ever played the King's Quest series. It is a must have for any adventure game fan. The game is one of the simpler made by Sierra in the King's Quest series. However, it is still a fun game. It is worth playing more than once for sure. I have played it at least 3 times now, and I still can't get enough.

If you get this game and like it, you should definitely go ahead and get the rest of the series. 5 was my favorite. Also you might want to check out the Space Quest series. I don't really know what else I can say about the game, other than you have to give it a shot. It is a text based game of course, with graphics. I meaning you walk around on the screen with the keyboard. And you can see what is happening, but to do any interaction, you must type it in. It is very reminiscent of a point and click adventure.
In the game, you will encounter several obstacles that might make you think that you are stuck. However,

the game is fairly linear, and you must complete certain actions to unlock the next part. So if you do get stuck, you may have to look up some hints to get you onto the next "task". I never had too much trouble with the "guess the verb" problem. But it never hurts to try multiple synonyms.
All in all: the only true fault in this game is that it is too short. I always want it to last longer. So if you don't get all the points, be sure to play through again and get all of them. Otherwise, you're just going to miss out on some of the action. Oh, one more problem is that some of the "villains" in the game are a little fast, and sometimes you might not have enough time to really react, that is the only way that I died in the game, although that can easily be avoided by entering and quickly leaving the same area the way you came. In that way you can see if the area is safe or not.
All in all the game is short sweet, and small. So download King's Quest and you can enjoy this perfect classic just like I did. Then you will be addicted and can play through the rest of the series, which is equally enjoyable. So start playing and have fun!

Much improved over the original. Most importantly though, the graphics now match the other titles in the series. The story is still the same, solid and enjoyable.
