Game Review (written by Dariusmcallister) Added on: 01/18/2007
The game Kingdom: The Far Reaches was created in 1995 and released a year later, in 1996. It was a DOS 95 based fantasy game. The company that designed the game was Virtual Image Products (which has gone out of business). The graphics are pretty good. The game requires 256-color VGA video card to play. Every computer today can put up 256 colors, so you shouldn't have a problem running the game. Kingdom has a interesting graphic format, were you just watch animated videos ever time you move to a new location on the map.
These videos reveal the storyline and rich plot of the game. You also get to interact and use relics and artifacts in the animated screen. It’s a 3rd person style of play. If you don’t understand what I mean, just download the game and you will understand.
The game is very fun and well developed for its time. I had this game when I was a boy and I would play it all the time. I only had a book one of these games so I never could complete the full story. It has a strong plot that reminds me of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series. But I wouldn't go that far to say it’s as good as anything Tolkien created.

this is how the good story plot goes. A long time ago in a distant land, there were the Argent Kings. The Argent Kings split the land into five sub-kingdoms and ruled it with magic and power. But even the kings wanted a ruler so they chose the great wizard-warrior Mobus to rule as the leader of the Argent kings. Each kingdom gave Mobus a relic from their land. These relics are the Orb of Mobus, the Hunting Horn, the Black Mace, the Dagger of Arne, and the Crown of Malric. In this game you'll only find the first three. These five relics magical form together to make the "Hand", a powerful amulet that can control the entire land. Mobus use's it to keep order in the land. But, Mobus's brother Torlock became jealous of his older brother. He raised a powerful army, killed all the argent kings and then killed Mobus. But before Mobus died, he hid all of the relics into different parts of the five kingdoms, to keep them away from Torlock. Torlock orders his sidekick the Pluage Magcian to search out the land for the five relics. Torlock then kills all of the Argent kings family's, except for one baby girl who escape. She grew into a woman married and had a son named Lathan. You are Lathan in the game.
