I had bought from independent developers before and had not been that impressed by the graphics, music, storyline or game play. But after playing Last Half of Darkness, my mind had been changed dramatically.
Last Half of Darkness is a point and click adventure in the genre of horror. The plot is nothing new, a mad scientist does evil experiments, in this case on her pet monkey and its evil spirit lives on in the house, long after the scientist dies. Her daughter tries everything and spends all her inheritance on trying to clear the mansion of its restless spirits.

The plot is nothing new, a mad scientist does evil experiments, in this case on her pet monkey and its evil spirit lives on in the house, long after the scientist dies. Her daughter tries everything and spends all her inheritance on trying to clear the mansion of its restless spirits. In the end dying herself in the process, but not before she casts a spell that lures unsuspecting people to the haunted mansion in
the hope that they will be trapped there to finish what she started.
You play one of these victims that have been lured to the mansion and you have to find your way out by solving puzzles and thus putting the restless spirits at rest and get rid of the evil monkey spirit forever. You are probably thinking, 'been there, done that'! But what sets this game apart from all other independent games that I have played, is the soundtrack! Just listening to the soundtrack alone, is spine tingling. Add it to the game and you find yourself not wanting to play the game at night or without some one being there with you.
I am the sort of person that laughs at horror films, but the soundtrack to this game, draws you into a world of horror that are usually only found in Stephen King movies and books. I was petrified whilst I played this game and that was due to the way the characters in the game emerge and the atmospheric soundtrack! Oh yes! And my imagination!! I lost count of the times that I suddenly felt like there was someone behind and looked to find…. No one! I loved every minute I played the game, every scare, and every time it made me jump just added fuel to the atmosphere of the game.
The graphics are decent, and so are the puzzles. This developer has a superb talent for knowing what makes a game interesting and exciting. I look forward to another game being developed by this person. This is a ghost story that even puts Goosebumps on top of your Goosebumps. So why do you sit here reading this? Go buy it and be prepared for the fright of your life, Ha! Ha! Haaa!
