Monkey Island 2 also known as LeChuck’s Revenge is the sequel to the Secret of Monkey Island. Created by LucasArts in 1991, Monkey Island 2 features amazing graphics that were definitely advanced for its time of release. The game is an adventure game that is packed with fun.
An adventure game, Monkey Island 2 is the story of Guybrush Threepwood, a pirate who is searching for the treasure of Big Whoop. Guybrush inadvertently helps Largo resurrect his old boss LeChuck so now aside from finding the Treasure of Big Whoop, Guybrush has to go against his enemy LeChuck, whom he defeated in the original Monkey Island game.
Aside from the treasure, Guybrush must also win back the love of his life Elaine Marley. Because the game is a pirate adventure game, it is set in the Caribbean.
There are some puzzles that are difficult to complete but there are difficulty settings so you can play the easy mode if you want to get used to the game first or if you are not up to facing difficult challenges in the game. The easy game is called Monkey 2 Lite while the more difficult version is the regular Monkey Island 2.
The controls are pretty easy. The game is a point-and-click adventure game. The commands are listed on one corner of the screen and the items on the inventory are also displayed. The actions
and dialogues can be seen at the window on the top of the screen. Basically, the game is well-made and not confusing.
The biggest treat from this game is the colorful and detailed graphics that really brings you into the game. The high-quality graphics is natural for games that were created by Lucas Arts. The music is also engaging so it’s very easy to get in the mood for the game. The game also offers enough twists and surprises to get anyone really involved in the game. The plot is well-written and engaging and involves some pretty interesting characters. There are surprising revelations that add drama and excitement to the game.
This game is absolutely a must-have because of its stunning graphics and great game play. I don’t think there’s anyone who would have a bad time with this game. It has good humor injected into it. It also has some great references to the first game and to the movie Indiana Jones. Overall, this is just a fantastic game that shouldn’t be missed.
