Mystic Towers. I first played a Demo version of this on a friends computer back in the mid-nineties. The graphics were, for the time, fairly good if a bit simplistic. The Game itself, however, turned into something of an addiction for not only my friend and I, but almost all of our buddies as well. You play the part of a Wizard who must clear out several Towers which have become infested with various Monsters. Simple enough dungeon crawling fare except that once you enter a Tower, You're trapped inside until you manage to defeat the Monsters as well as the Generator which Spawned them and retrieve the Key.

And the rooms in the Towers are sure to cause you some consternation as well, loaded
as they are with various Traps that can damage your Health meter. Food and Drink Meters which slowly deplete over time also serve as motivation to take on the ever increasingly dangerous Monsters. Some of whom will drop much needed refreshment after you've dispatched them A very good early usage of an element that would become standard fare for several later Games
With a little caution, an eye out for Powerups, Food and Drink, an appreciation for warning Runes, and as many high damage spells as you can carry, My personal Favourites were Flame and Lightning Spells, I'm sure you'll find Mystic Towers a fun way to spend an afternoon or twelve. It compares favourably with several other classic RPG's. Most notably Stonekeep, the Summoning, the Bard's Tale Series. I was also reminded of Mystic towers more than a little when I first played the Arcade version of Gauntlet which took several elements of Mystic Towers and put them to such excellent use for a party of Adventurers rather than just a solitary Mage.
Imagine then my surprise and delight at rediscovering an old Friend and some great memories. Sadly, I was never able to complete the Game. My friend moved several hundred miles away and I had no computer of my own at that time and, by the time I DID have a Computer, the game was nowhere to be found. After finding a version of it on this site I called up my old Friend to reminisce and have a laugh over how seriously we took the adventure that is Mystic Towers. I'm sure my Friend will be downloading a Copy, as will I, and I would heartily recommend that you do the same. Happy Hunting and don't forget to pick up the Gold!
