Abe's Exoddus: This game was made by Oddworld in 1998. It is the sequel to Abe's Oddessy and even it looks a bit like Abe's Exoddus (which means it looks great).
The game has many puzzles to solve and these range from very hard to very easy. Abe and his friends are Mudokons which are a race imprisoned & forced to be slaves in a brewery. Your aim in the game is to rescue as many of you friends as possible but this can sometimes be very difficult indeed.

Some of Abe's friends have been blinded & you'll need to rely on voice. This ability, called gamespeak is an original idea in which the character can easily communicate with his friends. In Abe's Exodus a
wide range of speech is used e.g. ability to calm down angry / depressed Mudokons. Abe can chant and control enemies with these powers as well. You can make Slig open doors with series of calls and curses.
Not all situations require a puzzle solving. Sometimes you just need to run or execute timed moves. However, if you die, you have the ability to save anywhere so can reincarnate again.
The enemies are brilliantly conceived, and somehow manage to be both menacing and comical at the same time. Various enemies are included, such as the Sligs who carry machine guns and the Paramites who are like spiders. However, there are new threats about. Now you can get Flying Sligs with propellers & a limitless supply of grenades. Also the Fleeches that can swallow Abe whole. The creatures including Abe are very well animated and life-like. Unfortunately, they all appear pixelated against the high-resolution backgrounds. The scenery is also richly colored but sometimes the scenes get too highly filled up.
Abe's Exoddus however is extremely difficult and you have to work very hard to get top marks.
You are unlikely to get stuck in too many puzzles for any length of time. You can easily backtrack and do something else & return to the same puzzle later on when you are better at the game.
The game can be very frustrating at times but it is very rewarding when you eventually finish the game. With amazing graphics for its time and great game play I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested in action puzzles.
