Prisoner of Ice is an excellent game. Not the best I’ve seen, but still great. The puzzles are very well done although sometimes rather easy. Although, with this I still managed to get stuck on various occasions when the puzzles became harder. Some puzzles had time limits which increased the difficulty even more. I don't mind this though as I would rather the game to be more challenging than too easy.
The graphics were excellent, even though they are very dated and although it looks a bit old nowadays it doesn’t take too much away from the game play.
Some flaws remained consistent through the game such as the Norwegian who actually spoke Swedish. Although I realize most people would not have noticed this. I also thought the sound was rather impressive. The voiceovers were very, very good, and the overall sound made the game a very believable experience.
The story line was excellent. Right throughout the game I struggled to predict what the next move in the story would be. This kept me sitting at the computer playing this game, rather than newer games that I had access to. It goes to show that just because the game is a little older, the imagination of story writers was just as good as it is nowadays. Because the game was based
a lot on supernatural events it made it even harder to predict. If you like a good story line then this is definitely a game for you.
All of the environmental and character detail is of a very, very high standard. In all of the sections of the game you will be able to notice the time and effort that has been put in to make this game look like it would in a real life experience, rooms being filled with various items, and landscapes with excellent backdrops and details.
Over all, Prisoner of Ice was a very unique and enjoyable game. I would have liked to have seen the producers add a bit more length to the game as it ended reasonably quickly. I hope to see many sequels to this game in the future as it was a game that many people will enjoy even though it is getting to be rather outdated. I would recommend that anyone who wants a good game should get Prisoner of Ice. This game deserves at least four stars out of five in my personal opinion.
