Great game. Very fun, slightly addictive and complex. Not an Action-Adventure, only a few fighting segments, but more psychological. It was released in 1998, but the graphics are beautiful for its time. The sound category gets an ok score, you will find that your character has a cheesy voice, but besides reading all of the text, sound is pretty good. The sound of your footsteps changes from steps to crunching as you walk from dirt to sand, when you are fighting, you grunt as you swing your weapon.
Walking takes a bit of getting used to, but by level two, I had the hang of it. I was hoping walking could be done by the arrow keys or the num-pad, but instead it’s done by holding down the right mouse button. And you walk slowly. It won’t bother you at first, but later, when you have to walk to the other side of the level, or wander around trying to figure out what to do next, you will be a little frustrated that you can’t run.
The story is great, very interesting. But, of course, this being an adventure game, if the story was bad, the game would be bad. This game is basically about you trying to figure
out who you are, where you are, but I’m going to stop now. Can’t give anything away. Also, unless you read super fast, you will find yourself on a few occasions re-reading things, because you only get a few seconds before whatever you are reading/saying continues on. But, don’t skip ANY reading. All of the readings and people give little pieces of the story, and lots of times clues are found in books, people, and you putting two and two together.
Definitely a thinker, I, (sad to admit it), found myself on gamefaqs.com looking at a walkthrough a couple of time, only to find the answer was right there. So, put your thinking caps on for this one. It sure kept me busy for a while. Well, I've been ranting, so quit reading this, go download it, and play it already!
Overall, I definitely recommend this game to any gamer into adventure games. I give it 8 out of 10.
